Happy Hump Day!
In looking at the history of tribal prints I found that I enjoy looking at the history of fabrics and patterns. I decided to do a bit of research on the polka dot pattern since I am wearing one today :). I found a great wiki article that talks about the pattern in more detail here. The gist of it is that the term polka dot first came about in 1854, likely because the polka dance was also very popular at the time. As time passed polka dots became associated with flamenco dancers and were later connected to a variety of celebrities including Randy Rhoads, Dusty Rhodes, Buddy Guy and in the 80s and 90s they were associated with Venezuelan fashion designer Carolina Herrera. They also made a come back in 2006 in the United Kingdom when the print was used in skirts, dresses, scarfs and tops. They’ve now made a come back once more today.
About My Outfit
I chose a nice comfortable white button down and a pair baby blue polka dot shorts and paired them with these pink/beige/orange heels :). All in all the outfit is very comfortable and can be worn with flats for a more casual look.
Enjoy and have a wonderful day!
