“The truth is I love being alive. And I love feeling free.”

The truth is I love being alive. And I love feeling free. So if I can’t have those things then I feel like a caged animal and I’d rather not be in a cage. I’d rather be dead. And it’s real simple. And I think it’s not that uncommon.

Lately I’m feeling very grateful because I realize I have a lot of freedoms in my life. Like your average person I also have problems, I’m not saying my life is perfect, but I do have many freedoms which others have been robbed of. I’m fortunate enough to live in an era and in a country that will allow me to earn and spend my money in what ever way I choose. I don’t have to report my finances to anyone but myself. I can choose to go out on a weekday and have a drink, which I do from time to time. I’m not censored in what I choose to wear, many of my friends are censored by their boyfriends on what they can and cannot wear. If I choose to pose somewhat provocatively on my blog, I don’t have to answer to anyone but my parents, who generally don’t mind :). I also know my limits in each of these choices, since I have to deal with the consequences of all of them.

My point is, I know a few girls who don’t have these freedoms and other basic freedoms, in an age where these are your right. At times I wonder if I would be able to accept, or to know if I was not in a healthy relationship. I found, over the years that some of my friends were in oppressive relationships and they didn’t know it, until the situation reached very difficult extremes. I found a great test on Loveisrespect.org. I encourage you to take a look and honestly answers some of these questions for yourself. It definitely does not mean you should leave your significant other if the answer to one of these questions is yes. It might be something you can work on. I’m definitely no relationship expert, but when you find yourself hiding or lying about actions that your parents would approve of but your boyfriend does not, something is off. Please take a look, and answer these honestly to yourself :).

On another much happier note, I received an email from the awesome people at Monogram about The Blogging Contest and I am excited to report that TTC is in the top five :D!!! Thank you, to all of you who took those extra 5 minutes to register and vote for TTC!
