Snow and Glitter Nails

DSCN2200

Hi babes!

Welcome to my bedroom :). I took a day to work on my nails and my toes. I know many of us avoid doing our toes because it’s winter, but doing your toes are important too so please don’t neglect them. I’ve also found that doing my nails more often prevents them from chipping and breaking. If I go without doing my nails for more than a week or two, it’s almost guaranteed that they will break.
DSCN2166

I know another reason we sometimes get lazy with our nails is because they take a long time to dry. One tip I suggest, is to do your nails before going to bed. After you’ve brushed your teeth and you’re wearing your PJ’s and you have no other reason to move then do your nails.

DSCN2167

Another tip I found is get a wide cup and add cold water once you’re done doing your nails place them in cold water and this helps them dry faster!

DSCN2177

Also whenever you add glitter to your nails be sure to first add a base coat and then a top coat. I have found that when I didn’t add a base coat it was so much harder to remove the nail polish the following week and it you don’t add a top coat then the glitter tangles up on your clothes or your hair.

Holiday Blues and The Bikini Wax Tip of the YEAR!

DSCN2156

Ok lets start off by saying, yes I’m going to go there!

DSCN2143

After experiencing the torturous tradition of not only bikini waxing but brazilian bikini waxing, I have found a way to literally not feel so tortured. I guess for those of you who don’t know bikini waxing involves removing hair along the bikini line, where as the brazilian wax involves removing ALL hair!

DSCN2145

So what is this wax tip of the year? It’s GiGi Anesthetic Numbing Spray! To be honest it helps reduce the pain but you do have to reapply every 10 minutes or so. In my opinion it’s definitely worth it!

Mixing and Matching Mascara and Mascara Brushes

DSCN2116

Good morning TTC peeps!

I recently purchased Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Waterproof Mascara and to be honest I was not 100% happy. The brush didn’t really help spread and lengthen my lashes :(. However, I did like the texture of the mascara because it was thick but not full of clumps. So, I decided to use Benefit Cosmetics They’Re Real! Mascara‘s brush with Rimmel’s mascara :)

DSCN2088

I also wanted to use lighter colors, which I usually don’t use because they make my eyes look smaller, but since my eye lashes are going to look extra thick and long they’ll make up for the lighter eye shadow. This palette is old and no longer available for sale but I did find a similar one with a variety of colors ;) SHANY Eyeshadow Palette, Boutique, 40 Color.

DSCN2119

I also found  E.l.f. Cosmetics Piece Brush Set, an affordable 10 piece brush set that would also make a nice gift! I used the second and fourth brushes from the right side to apply green eye shadow around both my lower and upper lids.

DSCN2093

Once you’ve outlined your eye with green eye-shadow go ahead and add a light blue eye shadow above the green outline.

DSCN2094 DSCN2098

Next, go ahead and use the mascara brush from Benefit Cosmetics They’Re Real! Mascara and dip it into the Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Waterproof Mascara.DSCN2099 DSCN2115 DSCN2116

Finally add some lip color using Avon Extra Lasting Lipstick SPF 15 Totally Twig.

Enjoy and have a great day!

Diamond Smoky Eye Makeup

DSCN1981

Hi TTCers,

I have a few discoveries I’d like to share with you :). First I’ve been looking for a gentle make up remover that will be specially gentle on my eyes because I tend to use a lot of mascara, which is hard to remove. I found that Johnson’s head-to-Toe Baby Wash is a great makeup remover! :o

DSCN1935

It removes mascara, waterproof eye shadow, it’s also very affordable and it doesn’t burn your eyes :).

DSCN1941

Next, I’d like to share with you how to create the diamond smoky eye look :).

First, start by applying L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi foundation.

DSCN1927

Next you’ll want to outline your eyes with Maybelline Master Smoky Eye Shadow Pencil, using the side of the liner because the tip of the liner is actually very thick and it might make it difficult to define the shape of the eyes.

DSCN1943

DSCN1946

You’ll then add a thicker line above the original outline and extended it almost to the end of your eye-brows.

DSCN1949

Go ahead and do this for both eyes. You’ll notice a bit of a line where your eye crease is, but that’s alright. You’ll cover it with the diamond eye shadow ;).

DSCN1953

You’ll want to use a medium brush and add REVLON Luxurious Color Diamond Luste Eye Shadow from near your nose outward a bit more than half way into the eyelid.

DSCN1958

DSCN1957

DSCN1956

You’ll then want to add REVLON Luxurious Color Diamond Luste Eye Shadow to the lower lid half way across the eye or less.

DSCN1954

DSCN1960

I then applied Rimmel Glam’ Eyes Day 2 Night Mascara.

Finally, you’ll want to add Avon Extra Lasting Lipstick.

Testing L’oreal’s Infallible Eye Shadow

DSCN1861

Hi TTC Readers,

Happy Thursday! I recently found L’oreal’s new infallible eye shadow and thought I’d give it a try. It claims to be waterproof, as well as, fadeproof. I also used a few other producst to complete this look.

DSCN1825

First I added foundation.

DSCN1851

Next, I used a thin brush to outline my eyes. First the top then the bottom.DSCN1854

The first thing I noticed about the eye shadow is the texture is much fuller than your average eye shadow. You really don’t need to reapply because the color is vibrant and bold. I would just be careful when tapping the brush on the eyelids because it can get a bit messy. In my case, little clumps of eye shadow fell from my eyes on to my cheeks. Aside from that, I really like this eye shadow.

DSCN1859

FSCN1906Next, I added an arch over both eyes above the original outline of the eyes.

DSCN1860

Finally I added mascara and a bit of lip gloss :)

DSCN1896

I then decided to test how water proof the eye shadow really is. I added water three times.

DSCN1908 DSCN1912 DSCN1915

The eye shadow did not smear or come off. What did smear was the Rimmel Mascara, which was not water proof.

On Body Image

Happy Humpday!

Many of you might have already seen this interview with Robyn Lawley on The Ellen Show, but I really want to talk about it because Ellen brings up a very valid point about how women have a very distorted view of their bodies in huge part due to magazines, movies and just media in general.

After seeing many of her gorgeous photographs it’s very hard to think that this is what society thinks of as a plus size model because in my mind she looks like a healthy person.

I came to the realization that when the word model comes to mind I do think of some one who is so thin that she looks out of this world. This strange image of a god-like creature comes to mind because I think of someone who has the will power to live on almost no food and plenty of exercise.

I guess this is why I have always put many of these women on a pedestal, because when I workout I want to eat and when I wake up I also want to have breakfast. It is impossible for me to workout and go through my day having just had a venti skim latte from Starbucks.

This specific drink comes to mind because when I used to work on fashion avenue aka 7th avenue, I entered a Starbucks and saw a very tall woman with a very beautiful face, her face stood out among everyone in the crowd. But, when I had the chance to look at her legs I saw what Robyn Lawley talks about in this video, I saw the “thigh-gap”.

There was very little muscle or fat on her legs. All I saw was bone and I wondered at that point how this body could stand so tall without any muscle. She ordered a Venti skim latte and left the store.

There really needs to be a healthy balance and healthy role models for us to look up to. According to an article on ABC news a size 6 is considered a plus size. I’m 5’1 and I’m a size 4, a professional model needs to be at least 5’7-5’8 to model. How can a woman who is so much taller than me have the same size hips?

I also want to clarify that I don’t want women to just stop working out or eating healthy because this is your body, you only have one and you should take care of it. But we do need more realistic standards of beauty.

I also came across this shocking video transformation, which was also eye opening.

Love your body and learn to take care of it as best you can <3.

Catrina Part 2

ACH_3293-Edit

Hi Everyone!

I’m sorry if I’ve been missing for a bit. Things have been busy in my neck of the woods. My cousin Claudia is here from Colombia and I’ve spent a lot of time with her showing her NYC. She did my makeup for this shoot and it make out phenomenally!

ACH_3298-Edit

I also want to thank Adrian Chafloque as always, his photographs are stunning! We did this shoot after sunset and it was the perfect setting for this makeup.

ACH_3303-Edit-2

It’s funny because we weren’t planning on shooting this late but before we knew it, it was dark and we were able to make the best of it. Adrian was able to brighten the red leaves on the tree behind me, which helped create the perfect ambiance.

ACH_3303-Edit-3

As far as the outfit goes, the beautiful tribal print on this coat matched my make up very well and was nice and warm as well.

ACH_3285-Edit
I paired it with a black and white stripe and floral dress and long black boots.
