2014 A Furry New Year

Hi TTC Readers!

Happy belated 2014 :) I’ve been working on a few projects, on my career and I’ve met someone who I’m happily getting to know :) which left me with less time to post. I’m back and ready to kick off the first post of The Trend Crush on 2014!

As you can see from these shots New York was recently bombarded with snow. I chose to wear my grandmother’s gift, this beautiful fur coat, which really kept me warm and allowed me to wear my pink pumps ;). I accessorized and kept warm by adding a print scarf and my Calvin Klein handbag.

I want to thank everyone who reached out to me waiting patiently for my next post!

Enjoy and have a great day!

Hi Everyone,

For the past seven days I have made a HUGE effort to eat healthy. I have given up simple carbs one of which is chocolate. Those who know me know that I am a chocoholic. I used to have at least a miniature piece of chocolate a day. It’s interesting that I no longer miss it. However, I know that one bite will be all it takes to get me hooked again and to completely ruin my new healthy eating habits. I replaced many simple carbs, that in retrospect composed 80% of my daily intake, with protein. I no longer eat white bread, rice, beans, or cereal. The hardest to give up, which was surprising to me, was bread. I always thought giving up chocolate would be harder, but I guess my body was used to eating bread for breakfast for the past 26 years and the lack of it makes me feel a bit anxious at times. At which point I either have a slice of whole wheat , an apple or black coffee. The most motivating aspect of all this is that my tummy, which has never really been very hard, is suddenly hardening! I’m also working out at least an hour a day, 5 days a week but I had done this in the past and yet my abs would never show because of my diet. I’m hoping that in the next photo shoot I’ll be able to notice the difference :).

Speaking of photo shoots, this one was shot near one of NYC’s many park playgrounds. It’s a very casual outfit with a jean skirt, floral top and the messenger bag. I added the heels to give it a bit of elegance but if you’re just headed to the supermarket you can definitely add a pair of flip flops, or as my australian cousin referred to them recently thongs.  Funny side note, flip-flops in Australia are called thongs. My cousin and I were having a conversation about comfortable footwear and suddenly she said I just wear thongs. This completely threw me off as in my head I’m thinking, thongs are not always comfortable and how did we go from talking about shoes to her wearing thongs. Eventually we figured it out and had a good laugh :).

Have a great day and come back soon!

Beginning over again with the summer

“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”

As you’ve probably noticed I’ve become obsessed with summer and being outdoors. Summer is my absolute favorite time of the year, it ranks higher than even gift giving holidays. At times I’ve even thought about moving somewhere with an eternal summer where I can visit the beach every afternoon and be motivated to stay in shape because of it. As appealing as this sounds, I’m sure I would ultimately miss the huge variety of events, activities and cultures that New York has to offer. I would also be bored out of my mind without my crazy-fun friends and family. So instead at the moment I choose this beautiful crazy city and it’s wonderful summers.

This outfit was inspired by the beautiful yet sometimes sticky weather. I love to wear loose tops when humidity kicks in and you cannot go wrong with light colored pants in this weather. I paired this outfit with beige heels and I accessorized the look by layering two necklaces and adding triangle earrings.

DSC_0537Hi there!

As promised, I wanted to share my birthday outfit with you. I celebrated my 26th birthday on May 26th and wore this beautiful white and gold bandage dress on my night out on the town. It was a very fun night with friends and family.

Twenty-six is a funny age to be at, I’m finally realizing that I am officially an adult and yet I’m still a kid at heart. I love to live my life very spontaneously. I find that I’ve had more fun when plans are made last minute. However, part of growing up does involve making plans and making goals for yourself. These are a work in progress for me, I’m giving myself until the end of this summer to set up a few personal goals and I’ll be more than happy to share these once I have them all down. I’m also happy to hear about any goals you have for yourselves and maybe you can inspire me :).

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Hump Day!

Leather skirts and shorts have been in style for some time now and I thought it would be fun to spend sometime talking about what fun outfit ideas can come from leather skirts. For starters leather skirts were born in the 80s and were also worn in the 90s. They slowly faded away in the early 2000’s and are now back in style. The black leather skirt is more of a neutral piece, which means you can pretty much mix it with almost any color or fabric. In this outfit I chose bold pieces like a gold sequin top and red wedges. Other combinations can include polka dot or stripe tops as well as white or skin toned tops. For a more casual look you can even chose your favorite T-shirt and a nice pair of sandals. If you’re in NYC I would recommend wearing the leather skirt at some point this week since the weather will be in the 70s and once it hits 90 it won’t be as comfortable ;).

Enjoy and have a wonderful day!

How to Wear Red Pants

DSC_9790Hi Everyone!

A long time ago I would not be caught dead wearing red pants :). I thought they were too scandalous and flashy. However, at that point in time, colored pants were not common and I also had no idea what to pair red pants with. The lesson I learned through magazines, blogs and people watching, is that any piece that stands out can be worn with pieces that have neutral colors such as black, white, beige or jean fabric. (You’ll hear this mantra quite often from me). In this case the bold piece are the red pants and my neutral colors are black and white. I could have also worn this outfit with beige or white shoes. Another way to style red pants it to wear them with lighter tones of red, for example a pastel pink and lastly blue also matches red very well.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Polka Dot Mid Drift Top!

HAPPY FRIDAY!

One trend I spotted for the summer is the ever feared mid drift top. Yes, I know how intimidating it is to wear a mid drift top when you don’t necessarily have a six pack, however you might be able to pull it off. The trick is to buy shorts that are high waisted and not too tight on your body. This way the shorts will accentuate the hips, make your waist look a bit smaller and the shorts won’t dig into your muffin-top (I hate this term too) because they are high waisted and because they are somewhat loose. If the weather is not too hot you can keep the leather jacket and add heels to give it a bad-ass look, if you would like a more feminine look, replace these with a cardigan and pumps. Enjoy your mid drift tops!

Have a wonderful day!
